A Tribute to RAJEEV GOSWAMI

"On September 19, 1990, the then 20-year-old Rajeev Goswami, a commerce student of Delhi University’s Deshbandhu College, had poured oil and set himself on fire amid a crowd of supporters and spectators in one of the most divisive phases since Independence. Like thousands of upper caste students in India, he was protesting against the government’s decision to implement the Mandal Commission recommendation of 27 per cent quota for backward classes. Goswami, who sustained 80 per cent burns, finally succumbed to the injuries on February 24, 2004."

  1. It's a Pity that Rajiv Goswami was forgotten....a men that sacrificed himself for the cause was completely eradicated from history. I remember we had a chapter on Mandal Commission in class 10th but there was no description of this unsung hero...
